If you have any experience with tile floors, you're probably aware that ease of cleaning is among their biggest perks. Mopping does the job in most scenarios and is the method of choice for regular tile floor maintenance. That being said, there are still intricacies to consider if you'd like to keep your tile floors in tip-top shape in our absence.
As mentioned, regular mopping is sufficient to deal with most forms of dirt accumulation on tiles. Mop back and forth and in a circle and don't be afraid to apply pressure – tiles are resilient and can handle aggressive mopping so long as the fabric is gentle enough.

TILE FLOOR CARE TIPS
While regular mopping is a must, make sure to deal with any spills immediately instead of waiting for the scheduled cleaning to come about. The longer a spill (however small) is left unattended on a tile, the lower your chances of successfully removing it when you get to cleaning.
If you're dealing with stubborn stains on your tiles, try applying a mixture of vinegar and water, or in more severe cases, scouring powder/commercial cleaner and water. Chemicals are safe to use on tiles provided you carefully read the instruction label – never apply a chemical that's labeled as unsafe for tiles, not even by adding it in cleaning water, as you risk causing permanent damage that even we will struggle to undo.
When mopping, make sure to scrub the grout with a good degree of force rather than merely focusing on the tiles. Grout is much more susceptible to discoloration and stains and is also likely to harbor bacteria in the absence of regular cleaning. If anything, it pays to increase the frequency of floor mopping in the kitchen and bathroom just to lower the rate at which the grout will darken.
If you're dealing with dark grout, you can try applying a commercial grout cleaner in hopes of reverting its color back to white or white-gray. The problem with this is that many of these cleaners are harmful to the tiles themselves, and home owners will rarely take the necessary precautions to protect the tiles before dealing with dirty grout. Clean grout and dirty tiles don't make for a good combination, so make sure to either use a syringe or similar device to apply the substance or to protect the tiles with duct tape and/or foil.
With all that said, if one or more tiles you own suffers from discoloration, staining or dents, you probably won't be able to alleviate the damage on your own. Instead of replacing the tiles or enduring their imperfections, get in touch with us and we'll see what we can do to give you the sparkling bathroom and shiny kitchen you deserve.
